Synchro

Paweł "Synchro" Jędrzejko,  an old sea-salt, has skippered a number of cruises in the northern hemisphere. In spite of the fact that for some time he had been professionally involved with sailing, he still needs a philosophical explanation why nails should not be driven into the wall with a screwdriver, and must be sure that "a hammer" is not a discursive strategy that can be deconstructed. When driving, he normally collects tickets for NOT going fast enough. When driven at speeds exceeding 120 km/h he goes neurotic and starts yelling at Michał (see below), not infrequently resorting to vocabulary which well-mannered companies usually consider unacceptable. With a Ph.D. in American Studies, his major occupation is that of an Assistant Professor at the Institute of British and American Culture and Literature of the University of Silesia in Katowice, where he excells in the specious art of torturing poor students with gems of American Literature, all as simple as Bartleby the Scrivener. A true fan of Herman Melville and Joseph Conrad, of mint Dunhills (only until TOMORROW) and ice cream, he finds his fleeting nirvana in the tunes of his classical guitar and poetry writing. In the band, Paweł's main occupation is writing lyrics and transforming his dearest "technical", "medical", and "naturalist" friends into true connoiseurs of humanities. He sings baritone lines and "centers," and describes his voice as "... delicate, subtle, and even though not as powerful as those of other Bananas, as highly penetrating and blissfully vibrating." Zuzia, his wife-to-be, might not be willing to accept such self-promoting strategies on Synchro's part for too long - after all, her fiance's purest intentions could be misunderstood... ;-)))

The Banana Boat are a vocal quintet, singing both traditional and original sea-songs and shanties. The group, which came into existence in 1994, now consists of Maciej "YenJCo." Jędrzejko, the frontman and lead vocalist of the group, Paweł "Konik" Konieczny, the group's composer and performer of the high parts, Paweł "Synchro" Jędrzejko, the group's lyricist and baritone-parts vocal, Tomasz "Mundry" Czarny, the arranger, composer and bass vocal, and Michał "Ociec" Maniara, the Banana Boat official Nemesis, manager of the BananaArt.Pl Art Agency, and mid-parts vocal. Active yachtsmen all, we represent such occupational millieus as medicine, dentistry, banking and law, trade, and academia. We do believe in friendship and love as the only reasons why life is worth living that do not require a separate philosophy.
